A 22-year-old construction worker has been charged after allegedly using his gun to beat and threaten a man during a heated encounter on Upper Regent Street in Kingston earlier this week.

The accused, Andre Bushay, of Race Course Lane, Kingston 14, has been charged with assault at common law, unlawful wounding, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Reports from the Denham Town Police are that about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, a man was walking along the roadway when Bushay reportedly approached him, pulled a firearm from his waistband, and used it to hit him in the face, causing a wound. The accused allegedly threatened to shoot the man, who ran off in fear and later reported the incident to the police.

Bushay was later pointed out during an identification process and taken into custody. He was charged on Wednesday, October 8. Preparations for his court appearance are underway.
