Juno Award Nominee Kirk Diamond has teamed up with legendary ska icon Derrick Morgan for a new record titled Conqueror.

The collaboration is the lead single for Kirk Diamond's upcoming 2016 EP yet to be named.

Kirk, who is known to dabble with old school dancehall and reggae, has candidly admitted to being influenced by the likes of Supercat and Jacob Miller. He says working on a project with a ska legend is the culmination of a musical dream.

"The duet was an honour for me to do. A lot of people my age or younger may not know who Derrick Morgan is or even be familiar with his music, so this was a way for me to at least reintroduce him to my supporters. It's a remake of an original song for those who may not know his 1967 version. I used parts of his verses as a chorus while I wrote and sang my verses," he told THE STAR.

The overseas-based artiste says the record is intended to motivate listeners and evoke self-belief.

"Conqueror is about conquering the fears of fighting for what you want, knowing it won't be easy to achieve your goals but still be willing to fight and conquering while remaining true to yourself," he said.

Derrick Morgan is one of the biggest names in Jamaica music, being listed among the likes of Desmond Dekker, Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff among others. The rocksteady crooner is known for classics like Tougher Than Tough, Do the Beng Beng and Conquering Ruler among others. Morgan had record breaking chart success in the '60s occupying multiple spots on the Jamaican pop charts.

Conqueror will be distributed by digital giants 21st Hapilos Digital and is available for purchase on all major online stores such as iTunes and Amazon.
